Bury Me Alive

Remember Carly Smithson from American Idol?
She's resurfaced as the lead singer for the band We Are The Fallen...made up of former Evanescence band members.
The track is called 'Bury Me Alive'.

I like the track...and really it does just sound like a continuation of where Evanesence left off...Carly sounds just like Amy Lee.

Punk Princess...

Love this website, My Baby Rocks....greatest rock 'n roll and punk clothing for kids.

Fab.

Lee Dewyze

Fave performance of the night....one of the few bright spots in this year's American Idol.

Lee Dewyze doing his take on 'Treat Her Like A Lady' by The Cornelius Brothers.

This version could so easily make the transition to radio and do really well. Love it.

Good Night Vancouver

My husband brought the book 'Good Night Vancouver' by David J. Adams, back from Vancouver as a gift for my 2 year old daughter.
She absolutely adores it...we read it every night...sometimes twice.
Beautifully illustrated...it captures a child's imagination, inspires travel and is wonderfully written.

"Many of North America’s most beloved regions are artfully celebrated in these board books designed to soothe children before bedtime while instilling an early appreciation for the continent’s natural and cultural wonders. Each book stars a multicultural group of people visiting the featured area’s attractions and rhythmic language guides children through the passage of both a single day and the four seasons while saluting the iconic aspects of each place."

The books are from Our World of Books...the publishers of the Good Night Our World Series.  Other places children can read about: Montreal, Seattle, California, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City and Vermont...and the list goes on and on.

Any book that engages like this series does...makes a perfect gift.

Jack Johnson

Preview of the first single, 'You and Your Heart' from Jack Johnson's new album To the Sea coming out June 1st.

The Laminated Top 5 List.

Now for the record Mr. George Clooney does not count in the laminated top 5...he is a given for any woman...he has God-like Top 5 laminated status.  He is beyond the Top 5 'needs to be listed'.  He is assumed.

Here are my Top 5 Laminated List is no particular order...really how can one pick a favourite?

And the two alternates...just in case any of the Top 5 pull a Jesse James and turn out to be a total douche whore bag...

A little self indulgence.

And now for a little self indulgence.

My little soap opera crush.  Billy Miller who plays Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless.

He is the best thing to happen to that show in a long time.  And by best I mean totally hot.

Love the bad boys. He oozes that crazy charm and the sex appeal....so damn fine. And that smile. Those Southern boys I swear get me every time.

And for the record, I'm not the only one going crazy for Miller...from Twitter:

  • @sarahjcarter He is yummy with a side of NOM NOM NOM.
  • @iAmFairylicious Billy Miller shirtless......YAY
  • @iAmFairylicious Oh yes he is!! BillyMiller is freakin' delicious and I would love to be a notch on his bedpost anytime!
  • @Proffit1 tomorrow we will get to see some more of them in action again!LOL Billy Miller is a great Billy Abbott!!! He has chemistry
  • @ms_ashleyleigh For the record, Billy Miller is the business, and I don't even watch Y&R.
  • @footprints_soap @heartseries I know Y&R fans hate Billy Miller now because Billy the character is obnoxious, but he is so hot, I can't even deal with it.

Le sigh.

Now back to my regularly scheduled life.

Erykah Badu

The latest musical offering by Erykah Badu. The single is called 'Window Seat'.

Totally fab track. Fierce. Love.

Like Father, Like Son...

This conversation took place between my husband and my 4 year old son today...

Matteo: Daddy where are you going?

Stu: Daddy has to go work on TV for the Heart Institute Telethon for a few hours.

Matteo: Can I come with you? Please Daddy? I've never been to that one before.

Stu: No, you can't come today but you can come with Daddy to the CHEO Telethon.

Matteo: When is the CHEO Telethon?

Stu: It's not until June pumpkin.

Matteo: Awwww but Daddy I can't wait that long to be on TV!

Reporter's Revenge...Part II

The hilarity continues.
Not exactly the small screen debut one wishes for...

Farm Boy Lemon Garlic Dressing

My trainer actually suggested the Farm Boy Lemon Garlic Dressing to me...I've been obsessed with it ever since.  Like I seriously can't get enough of it...[the bonus: no additives, preservatives or added artificial flavours or colours and only 35 calories for 2 tablespoons]

Here's a recipe that I threw together that screams warm weather is here....

My Springy Salad

Ingredients
2 medium tomatoes
5 large mushrooms
1/2 fennel bulb
1 ripe avocado
1/2 small red onion
piece of fresh Tuna [enough for 2]

Preparation
Dice the tomatoes, slice the mushrooms, thinly slice fennel and red onion and cut the avocado into bite size cubes.
Grill tuna to personal preference on the BBQ.
Place all vegetables into serving platter, coat with Farm Boy Lemon Garlic Dressing and place sliced grilled tuna on top and serve.

Time: About 15 minutes
Serves 2

Brilliant revenge....

Found this on Funny or Die....laughed my ass off.

Every reporter's revenge dream come true.

Umm Telephone?

Oh Glockenspiel how much do I loveth your musical sound?

Lady GaGa bring this guy on tour with you. So fierce and fab.
A great intro to your 'Telephone' number...

Jake Bruene and his take on 'Telephone'...glockenspiel style. Word.

Ke$ha meets Drake

This is getting mixed reviews on YouTube at the moment but I actually find it very catchy. The best part? I don't have to hear Ke$ha sing.

It's a mash up of Drake 'Over' featuring the music of Ke$ha's 'Blah, Blah, Blah' with 3oh!3...mash up done by WasteTimeChasingCars [WTCC].

Iggy Peck Architect

My husband brought our 4 year old son this book back from his trip to Vancouver.
My son adores this book and loves the pictures.
We've been reading it every night ever since he received it.  It's funny and charming and captures the attention and imagination of children and adults alike.
Iggy Peck is a creative and independent little boy who is not afraid to express himself.
He has a special talent and he's different from your typical second grader but Iggy embraces his uniqueness and shows that being different is good.

"Iggy has one passion: building. His parents are proud of his fabulous creations, though they’re sometimes surprised by his materials—who could forget the tower he built of dirty diapers? When his second-grade teacher declares her dislike of architecture, Iggy faces a challenge. He loves building too much to give it up! With Andrea Beaty’s irresistible rhyming text and David Roberts’s puckish illustrations, this book will charm creative kids everywhere, and amuse their sometimes bewildered parents."

Jersey Makeover

Something I never thought I'd see on the Daily Makeover website [Style Network]...

Jersify Yourself!
Get a taste for the outrageous hair and makeup that make the stars of the Style Network'sJerseylicious one of a kind! For Olivia, Tracy and Gigi, it's all about major eyeliner, dark tans (fake, of course) and va-va-va volume hairstyles. It's a look we had to put in the Makeover Studio. You have to try it!

I had no idea that women were dying for a Jersey Shore makeover...really? There's a demand for this look? Really? Le sigh. Jerseylicious....I'll have to take a pass.  Maybe I'm totally showing my 37 years but I'm good without the big hair, ridiculous fake and bake tans and plastered on make-up...fierce beauty gurus these Garden State girls are not.
