Drake and 'Old Money'

So this was one of my favourite moments from last night's Juno Awards.

Who knew Drake was so damn funny. He has great comedic timing.

He can host any damn time he wants.

This was brilliant.

Love the bringin' of the gangsta in the retirement home. Old Money style. Word.

Avalanche City

From Auckland, New Zealand...

I am seriously crushing on this band and their sound.

Avalanche City releases their debut album, 'Our New Life Above the Ground' in NZ on April 4th.

But no worries if you are no where near that side of the globe because you can check out the entire album here.

Here is the video for their track...'Love, Love, Love'. Which coincidentally enough I in fact do love.

A History Lesson for Chris Brown

This brilliant commentary is from Jay Smooth (@jsmooth995) from New York.
He's a hip-hop radio DJ at WBAI 99.5 FM in NY, does web video at illdoctrine.com, and occasional music commentaries on NPR, among other things.

http://www.illdoctrine.com

I hope Chris Brown watches this and retains what is being said - cause he needs to hear it in the worst way.

Saturday Mash Ups: Ting Tings

Thanks to Brad MacLauchlan for these mash ups....

Far East Movement

Very cool cover of 'Rocketeer' / Far East Movement by JRA x Tori Kelly x AJ Rafael.

Billie Jean

Ok so he obviously is a huge Chris Cornell fan...but he's got his own thing going on and I like it.

A cover of Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean'.

Chris Cornell's version...

Gervais + Elmo = Hilarity on 'Sesame Street'

I my have posted this before but I don't care it's makes me laugh my ass off every time I see it.

Two of my favorite things in the world - Ricky Gervais & Elmo.

Ricky and Elmo need to co-host Saturday Night Live together. Really they do.

This is the one time I wish Elmo was real.

Fabri Fibra: Prima Che Sia Domani

Love this track by Fabri Fibra.

Long Live the Sticky Notes

From Perpetual Kid....

These sticky notes speak to me.

30 day song challenge: day 30

day 30 - your favorite song at this time last year: Train 'Hey Soul Sister'

Could not get this song out of my head for a long time...and then I discovered a great cover of the song by Alex Goot...which only added to my 'much love' for the track.

30 day song challenge: day 29

day 29 - a song from your childhood: Connie Francis 'Who's Sorry Now'

Yes Connie Francis.

It was one of the two records my mom let me play on my orange Fisher Price record player.

The other record? Paul Anka.

Rebecca Black

Dear Bon Jovi,

Steve Jobs isn't responsible for killing the music industry, the Rebecca Blacks of the world are.

Signed,
Me

Ferris Bueller Recut

After seeing Ferris Bueller's Day Off in the theatre, JosephSBrett on YouTube decided to recut a trailer as an editing exercise.

Now I want him to recut all the trailers to all John Hughes movies.

30 day song challenge: day 28

day 28 - a song that makes you feel guilty: Rick Astley 'Never Gonna Give You Up'

Ever since the 'rickrolling'...I feel like it's not right to like thing song. Like it's been mocked far too much to be enjoyed.

Well screw that.

I may feel guilty but I still love the Rick Astley.

Aldo: New Shoe Finds

I love the changes in seasons - especially when the melting of ice and snow means new shoe collections.

Love these new shoes by ALDO. Spring/Summer 2011

Glee: Epic

Last night's episode of Glee completely redeemed the entire season which hasn't been so 'OMG OMG' spectacular....

First Santana - you are outstanding...this song is as the young kiddies say today 'epic'...

'Trouty Mouth'

When Glee announced they were going to perform original songs - well there was some concern - I mean it could get a little tacky....but if these two offerings are any indication....originals are a good thing indeed.

GLEE - Get It Right

GLEE - Loser Like Me

And finally the kiss heard around the world - Kurt and Blaine finally kissed. It was amazing. Squeals of delight.

So they likely lost middle America....but who gives a damn. Such an awesome TV moment.

30 day song challenge: day 27

OK two today....I suck at posting these things daily it has occurred to me.

day 27 - a song that you wish you could play: Vanessa Carlton '1000 Miles'

So given that I can't play the piano or song or do both at the same time for that matter - but if the stars aligned and I could this would be the song that I would attempt...

30 day song challenge: day 26

day 26 - a song that you can play on an instrument

Sadly there is no answer for this one - I suck at playing instruments.

That is all.

Steve Coburn

Love this cover of Taio Cruz 'Break Your Heart' by Steve Coburn. He totally made it his own.

Yummy Jiffy Cinnamon Buns

Well nothing says March Break activities like baking with the kids...and making super fast cinnamon buns. Nom. Nom. Nom.

Yummy Jiffy Cinnamon Buns

2 cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
¼ butter (cold)
1 cup milk

Mix together, then blend in the butter with pastry blender or cut in with two knives
Add one cup of milk and blend together.
Take out of bowl and knead it a few times.
Roll out the dough to a rectangle to about ½” thick on a floured surface.

Mixture - the good stuff

1/3 cup butter
1 cup of brown sugar (packed)
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Melt butter then add the brown sugar and cinnamon.
Then spread the butter combo all over dough.
Roll up the dough to look like a Jelly roll, cut pieces about 2” and place cut side down in a greased muffin tin.

Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes.

30 day song challenge: day 25

day 25 - a song that makes you laugh: Biz Markie 'Just A Friend'

It's a terrible song singing wise but there's just something about Biz that makes you overlook all the bad about it and makes you smile and laugh. It's so bad it's good.

And now the best thing is I can get my Biz fix on Yo Gabba Gabba - bliss.

30 day song challenge: day 24

So a double shot of the 30 day song challenge today...cause I forgot to post yesterday....

day 24 - a song that you want to play at your funeral: U2 'Where The Streets Have No Name'

A kind of morbid question...but since I'm all about the pre-planning...this is the song that I would want played. My final song request if you will...

30 day song challenge: day 23

day 23 - a song that you want to play at your wedding: Frank Sinatra 'The Way You Look Tonight'

30 day song challenge: day 22

day 22 - a song that you listen to when you’re sad: Goo Goo Dolls 'Iris'

I was obsessed with this song. I was working at a rock station in town when it came out. I had an entire 60 min cassette tape with only this song recorded over and over again. I listened to it for a month non stop.

Saw the movie 'City Of Angels' with my friend Lisa and it made me love the song that much more.

Always gets me right there when I hear it....great song for when you're sad.

Winning

Reason #2345 why I love Jimmy Fallon so.

Jimmy Fallon spoofs Charlie Sheen.

30 day song challenge: day 16

day 16 - a song that you used to love but now hate: Milli Vanilli 'Blame It On The Rain'

Confession: I actually bought the Mini Vanilli cassette tape and I spent money on a pair of concert tickets and I bought a concert t-shirt. Hanging head in utter and total shame.

I want my money back.

day 14 - a song that no one would expect you to love: Rob Zombie 'Never Gonna Stop'

The boy is a little freakish (serial killer looking at times)...OK a lot freakish...but there are a couple of his songs that I do like. I know, I know - go figure.
